Mehal Kalan is situated on Ludhiana Bathinda highway between Raikot and Barnala City. This village is about 20 kms. from Barnala and about 15 kms. from Raikot.

If we deeply look into history of this village we come to know that this village was established by famous Jatt Sikh Clan Chahal and than other clans also settled here. This village was named Mehal (which is known as Palace in English) because this village had old Forts and Palaces which were constructed by old Maharaja's of Raikot Constituency. The main thing which you will find intresting about this village is that people live here in brotherhood. A very alive example of this is that this village has only one Gurudawara.Otherwise you can find many Gurudawar's or other religious places in one village which shows that how our people have divided religion according to their Clans and Castes. According to religious angle this village has One Gurudawara on the name of Guru Hargobind Sahib, One Shiv Mandir, One Nanaksar Thaath and one Mosque which clearly represents that people from all religions live here in peace. If we see from Educational point of view this village has Government Primary School, Government Senior Secondary School, Baba Gandha Singh Public School, Gurpreet Holly Heart Public School and Akal Academy Baru Sahib are there we can refer to. This village also has one Primary Health Centre and one Veterinary Hospital. There are various assembly points for Senior Citizens where they can gather and share their thoughts. Population of this village is around 12000 and about 5000 people legally hold right to Vote.
