Growing up in the foothills of the Western Ghats, whenever we refused to eat our food, our mothers and grandmothers told us stories of the KOKAACHI, a monster that came out of the woods to catch disobedient little children like us. And we believed in that monster, though we’d never seen it or met anyone one who had. Over the years however, Kokaachi’s influence over us diminished and faded and then disappeared from our lives… But we're aiming to change that in this new house of stories….

At STUDIO KOKAACHI, we’re going to tell stories of ourselves, of young people who make choices that change their lives forever, of everyday relationships - some beautiful and some not so. Some of our stories will be filled with pain and loss and death, others will be funny and light and uplifting, and there will be more that lie somewhere in between the two.

We're going to spin alternate histories in which mad scientists and their primate armies threaten to take over the world. We're going to tell tales of dogs and cats and mice and wolves and eagles and manta rays and jelly fish and more. And then there are the tales of monsters and aliens, ghosts and ghouls and beings that we think exist only in legend and folklore. But no, we're not going to rehash mythologies, though we will surely invent our own. And of course, we're going to tell our own stories of the Kokaachi.

STUDIO KOKAACHI is based out of Cochin, Kerala.

Our focus is on original graphic stories told through comics, illustrated tales, picture books, animation and movies. Stories of all shades of emotion and colour and genres, with a few exceptions, maybe. ;) Stories for all ages - for the child in you, for the adult that you are today, or may become some day.
